"LET THERE BE LIGHT!"

If you've ever traveled north or south through Ohio on I-75, you've probably had a close encounter with Jesus. No, I'm not talking about a near death experience, I'm talking about the "King of Kings" statue of Jesus Christ holding out his arms. The well-known figure stood 62 feet tall & 40 feet wide (about 6 stories high,) right in good-ol' Monroe, Ohio. Financed by a pastor and his wife, the statue was built to be a beacon of hope to passers-by and cost a pretty penny too; about 25 million pennies to be exact ( that's $250,000!) Unfortunately, some Heathen thunderstorm sent a bolt of lightning right into Jesus and burned him down last night.

It sucks that it's gone because that statue was always one thing I desperately looked forward to seeing every time I went on a boring road trip with my mom! Now what am I going to do? Count Sheep?!

If you read my previous post, you were probably expecting to see some photo shoot pics up here by now. Well like every great person in history, I ran into a speed bump. I'm hoping to have the photo shoot in the next week, but only time will tell. Keep it posted to Double Helixx for blog posts until I get the kinks worked out this situation.

...I'm ready for my close-up!

I've decided to finally get off my butt, and get some pictures taken of myself! Tomorrow I will be having my first Lookbook.nu photo shoot w/ a good friend of mine from the University of Michigan: Ann Arbor... Avery Chan! I can't say what I will be wearing until you see the pictures but another good friend of mine and locally known designer Brittany Lockhart will be outfitting me with a custom piece from her men's line, Divine Kingdom. I have something in mind, but because of where I reside I don't think I will have my dream photo shoot location. Nevertheless, I'm going to post the pics to lookbook, but I will try to also get them posted here for your viewing pleasure.

Ale-Alejandro, Ale-Alejandro!

For those who may not be submerged in the world of entertainment, today marks the premiere of a new video from Ms. Paparazzi herself!

As I sit at work trying to cover up my computer screen while watching Lady Gaga's 'ALEJANDRO' video, I am blown away! I was literally 'Speechless' (lol), as the classic raunchiness, sexual freedom, and dark themes blared from the screen. Being a big Gaga fan, this video cuts all kinds of cake! I'm not exactly sure if I like or dislike it, but one thing is for sure; it is like nothing I've seen before.

Fashion Week @ EMU: Model Auditions

When the sun's shining & and it's hot as hell outside that only means one thing...IT'S SUMMER! I'm not the biggest fan of the season but I must admit, it is a catalyst for some pretty amazing things to happen. You just can't get enough of back to back Festivals, Concerts, & Fashion shows. With that being said, Festivals need vendors, concerts need artists and fashion shows need models. Speaking of models, I have a fashion show coming up and I need the HOTTEST cat-walkers to show up and show out! The show is in it's 3rd year and has been a big success since. It's put on by some of the most creative students at EMU, and is graced by some of Metro Detroit's most inspiring designers and models. It has a very special theme this year that I can't disclose, but I will say...prepare to be amazed!

Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of...!

As I've gotten more & more passionate about Fashion, I've met some real dope people that I really look up to. One of them is my boy C. Stokes a.k.a. Christopher Nic. We met some time ago via Twitter I think, but ever since then we hit it off. We have a lot of the same interests and inspirations. He's currently an intern at Complex magazine in NYC (I can't wait to get there) for the Summer! Recently he embarked on one of his dreams to start his own personal website/blog....and what do we have here?! Yup, he did it, christophernic.com is up and ready for business. Hello.....Lover! (first post)

The day has finally come! Something about this beautiful 80 degree Friday made me come to blogger and start fixing my blog. I don't really like to type a lot so I'll keep it short and sweet. Double Helixx is 'MY' blog! It will not be your normal Fashion or Music publication, but a sum of the events that happen in my fashionable life. I will keep you updated on the little things like local designers, events, and pieces that I make (yes I have a line in the works.)
