BACK LIKE I STOLE SOMETHING!
Fall is here so I'm obviously in a great mood. It's my favorite season because I love to celebrate all the colors and textures. It's unparalleled beauty captivates me every time I step outside! Anyways, if not apparent, I've been spending a little too much time admiring miss Autumn and lost touch from my darling Double Helixx. BUT, as the title says...I'm back! I'm ready to blog, adventure and do what I love.
In my absence I was still hard at work towards my career goals. My fashion show 'Le Parc A La Francais' was very successful, surpassing the 1,ooo+ attendees mark from the previous year. I am also currently holding the position of Marketing Coordinator of www.LivLuxMag.com, which is an up and coming online lifestyle magazine ran by young black entrepreneurs.
My life has been great these past few months which is why I want to share all the 'amazingness' with whomever is out there reading this...

Autumn of my dreams.
This picture, is a dream. This great man with great art thought up such an #epic fall line. His touches are impeccable and his moves are insightful. Its as if gold guardian birds have swooped below the horizon the save me, and covered my shipwrecked unlucky love story body with their gold-flaked wings. This is from the Alexander McQueen Fall '10 collection. This is art, this is innovation, this is smart! Go, MCQUEEN!!

FINALLY!!! The 1st Lookbook shoot is done...
"hitchhiking around the world..." is the first installment of what I hope to be a long run on the popular fashion website loobook.nu. I shot it during the sunset hours in Ypsilanti's historical Depot Town on some dirty train tracks! The back of my [white] pants were brown by the end of the day! I was slightly pissed but I was ecstatic about the end results. Along with the help of my good friend Brittany Floyd, I modeled, directed & styled my loooooong awaited shoot. After all the let-downs and unprofessional behavior of different "photographers" I just borrowed a great digital camera and got my own hands [& pants] dirty! :-)

UNwrapped: Brittany Floyd
"UNwrapped:" Is a new project I'm working on. I will put one talented, unforgettable person or thing on display every two weeks (at my own leisure, lol) . I want to expose people to people, & things to people. I bring you Brittany Floyd.
I remember the night. It was an open mic hosted by EMU's Poetry Society (P.S.) and the room was full! As quick as people would sign the list to pour out their soul through spoken word, their names were being called to take the stage. One girl in particular caught my eye; Brittany Floyd. She was beautiful but very nervous. She gained her footing, and by the end of her piece the room's sexual senses had been heightened. The girl was READY!
As time went on, Brittany and I got to know each other on a personal level and collaborated on different projects. We learned that we have a few pretty cool things in common which made us bond even more.
This girl is nothing short of amazing! She writes impressive poetry for someone her age and has traveled all over the U.S. to display her skills. This upcoming September she will be doing what many only hope to accomplish by traveling abroad to England. While in the country she plans to attend class, work, and travel to places like Amsterdam, Paris and London. She loves shopping vintage (like me :-) and has one of the most hippie/free-spirited personalities that just makes you feel warm every time you speak with her. With an open mind, heart and closet (too many clothes), whats not to love about this 20 y.o. bombshell with a future so bright I gotta wear Ray Bans! ha

"LET THERE BE LIGHT!"
If you've ever traveled north or south through Ohio on I-75, you've probably had a close encounter with Jesus. No, I'm not talking about a near death experience, I'm talking about the "King of Kings" statue of Jesus Christ holding out his arms. The well-known figure stood 62 feet tall & 40 feet wide (about 6 stories high,) right in good-ol' Monroe, Ohio. Financed by a pastor and his wife, the statue was built to be a beacon of hope to passers-by and cost a pretty penny too; about 25 million pennies to be exact ( that's $250,000!) Unfortunately, some Heathen thunderstorm sent a bolt of lightning right into Jesus and burned him down last night.
It sucks that it's gone because that statue was always one thing I desperately looked forward to seeing every time I went on a boring road trip with my mom! Now what am I going to do? Count Sheep?!

Delay =[
If you read my previous post, you were probably expecting to see some photo shoot pics up here by now. Well like every great person in history, I ran into a speed bump. I'm hoping to have the photo shoot in the next week, but only time will tell. Keep it posted to Double Helixx for blog posts until I get the kinks worked out this situation.
Thanx 4 the Support!

...I'm ready for my close-up!
I've decided to finally get off my butt, and get some pictures taken of myself! Tomorrow I will be having my first Lookbook.nu photo shoot w/ a good friend of mine from the University of Michigan: Ann Arbor... Avery Chan! I can't say what I will be wearing until you see the pictures but another good friend of mine and locally known designer Brittany Lockhart will be outfitting me with a custom piece from her men's line, Divine Kingdom. I have something in mind, but because of where I reside I don't think I will have my dream photo shoot location. Nevertheless, I'm going to post the pics to lookbook, but I will try to also get them posted here for your viewing pleasure.
